신사동 한복판, 한 끼 식사로 하루의 만족도를 끌어올릴 수 있는 특별한 스튜 전문점이 있습니다. 이름은 ‘스스키노’. 지인의 강력 추천으로 처음 찾게 되었는데, 한 번 방문한 이후로는 저도 지인들에게 적극 추천하게 된 집이에요.
스튜라는 메뉴가 익숙한 듯하면서도 흔하지 않기에, 맛집으로서 스스키노의 존재감은 꽤 신선하게 다가왔습니다.
이곳의 대표 메뉴는 총 세 가지.
먼저 치킨 스튜는 커다란 닭다리가 통째로 들어가 있어 비주얼부터 시선을 사로잡습니다. 부드럽게 조리된 닭다리는 포크만 살짝 대도 살이 쉽게 발라지고, 진한 국물과 밥을 함께 먹으면 든든하고 포근한 한 끼가 됩니다.
두 번째는 해물 스튜. 새우와 게가 넉넉히 들어가 있어 바다의 향이 국물 전체에 깊게 배어 있습니다. 해물 특유의 감칠맛이 잘 살아 있고, 야채도 적절히 곁들여져 있어 균형 잡힌 맛을 자랑합니다. 신사동에서 이런 퀄리티의 해물 스튜를 만날 줄은 솔직히 기대하지 못했는데, 기분 좋은 반전이었죠.
그리고 제 개인적인 추천 메뉴는 단연 햄버그 스튜입니다. 큼직한 함박스테이크가 진한 스튜 국물 속에 퐁당 들어가 있는데, 고기 본연의 풍미와 스튜의 깊은 맛이 아주 잘 어우러집니다. 고기+국물+밥의 조합이 너무 훌륭해서 젓가락을 내려놓을 틈이 없었어요.
세 가지 스튜를 모두 먹어봤지만, 각각의 개성이 뚜렷하면서도 맛의 완성도는 모두 높았습니다. 그래서인지 점심시간 즈음엔 항상 가게 앞에 긴 줄이 생깁니다. 저도 두 번째 방문 때는 오픈 10분 전에 도착했는데도 벌써 줄이 있었어요. 인기 있는 이유를 직접 먹어보니 충분히 납득이 되더군요.
다만, 한 가지 아쉬운 점이 있다면 다찌석입니다. 일렬 바 형태의 좌석이다 보니 메뉴를 고르거나 직원에게 주문을 요청할 때 다소 불편함이 있었어요. 혼자 방문하는 분들에겐 괜찮지만, 둘 이상이라면 일반 테이블석에 앉는 걸 추천드립니다.
그럼에도 불구하고 스스키노는 정말 만족스러운 식사를 할 수 있는 곳입니다. 정성스럽게 만든 스튜 한 그릇은 단순한 음식 그 이상이었어요. 신사동에서 색다르고 퀄리티 있는 한 끼를 찾고 있다면, 스스키노는 분명 좋은 선택이 될 것입니다.
Right in the heart of Sinsadong, there's a unique stew specialty restaurant that can elevate your day with just one meal. It's called Susukino. I first visited this place thanks to a strong recommendation from a friend, and ever since, I've been confidently recommending it to others as well.
Stew may feel familiar, but it's surprisingly rare to find a place that specializes in it – which is why Susukino really stood out to me as a refreshing find.
There are three main types of stew on the menu.
First up is the chicken stew, featuring a large, whole chicken leg that immediately catches your eye. The meat is so tender that it practically falls off the bone with just a gentle touch of a fork. The rich broth pairs perfectly with warm rice, making it a hearty and comforting meal.
Next is the seafood stew, packed generously with shrimp and crab. The flavor of the ocean is infused into every spoonful of broth, and the natural umami from the seafood is beautifully balanced with tender vegetables. I honestly didn’t expect to find such high-quality seafood stew in the middle of Sinsadong, so it was a pleasant surprise.
My personal favorite, though, is the hamburg steak stew. A thick, juicy hamburger steak is nestled in the deep, savory broth. The rich meat flavor blends harmoniously with the stew, creating a perfect combination when eaten with rice. I couldn’t stop eating – it was just that good.
Having tried all three stews, I can confidently say that each dish has a distinct personality and is executed to a high standard. Unsurprisingly, there's always a line outside around lunchtime. On my second visit, I arrived ten minutes before opening and there was already a small crowd forming. Once you taste the food, it's easy to understand why this place is so popular.
If I had to point out one downside, it would be the counter seating (called datchi-seok in Korean). The bar-style setup can make ordering a bit awkward, especially in tight quarters, and interacting with staff can be slightly inconvenient. It's perfectly fine for solo diners, but if you're visiting with someone else, I’d recommend opting for the table seating if possible.
Despite that minor inconvenience, Susukino offers an incredibly satisfying dining experience. Each stew is crafted with care, and the depth of flavor in every dish makes it much more than just a simple meal. If you're looking for a unique and high-quality lunch or dinner spot in Sinsadong, Susukino is definitely worth a visit.
